Last week, Debay DeLux popped by the studio to try it out for a quick portrait session. We had a great time and got some good shots, but I couldn’t help but feel that recently I’ve not really been shooting for myself much this year. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been busy and really happy with what I’ve been shooting, but during the down time I’ve been focusing more on re-editing older shots or tidying up the website. It wasn’t until we were doing these shots that I realised just how long it had been, even since we last did some photos together.
The good thing about realising this during the shoot was that I can now actively do something about it. Going out of your way to shoot for yourself is important to keep yourself motivated and learning, and I’m always of the opinion that people should constantly be learning. This year, I still feel like I’ve been learning new things in regards to my photography, but just at a much slower place.
So I’ve made a decision. In 2018 I’ll start up a photo-a-day project. I’ve done one of these before when I was a student (you can see it here) and it was a great way to get out of the days when you’re creatively spent. So from the 8th of January, I’ll be uploading a new weekly blog with the weeks worth of photos and a few words. I’m looking forward to starting it up again, but I’m dreading the slow days!
Anyway, here’s a quick look at some of the shots Debay and I managed to get in the new studio.
